User Segments
User Segments allow you to define and target specific groups of users in your app with tailored paywalls or A/B tests. These Segments are based on user attributes like location, subscription status, device type, or any custom data you define. By using Segments, you can create personalized experiences that drive better engagement and conversions.
With User Segments, you can:
- Target Specific Audiences: Deliver tailored Paywalls or A/B tests to users based on defined criteria.
- Segment with Flexibility: Use filters like country, subscription status, and custom attributes to define segments.
- Measure Impact: Track performance with detailed metrics like revenue, conversion rates, and engagement.
Use Cases
You can use User Segments to create targeted paywall experiences in scenarios like:
-
Trial Users Who Did not Convert: Re-engage users whose trials ended without conversion (e.g., offer a limited-time discount to U.S. users with auto-renew off).
-
Country-Based Offers: Deliver localized paywalls based on user location (e.g., show special pricing to users in a specific region while maintaining the default elsewhere).
-
Re-Engaging Canceled Subscribers: Target users who previously canceled their subscriptions with tailored reactivation offers or reminders of premium benefits.
How User Segments Work
User Segments help you personalize content by grouping users based on attributes and behaviors. Here's how to use them effectively:
Create a User Segment and define your cohort by selecting filters like "Country from IP" or "Calculated subscription state". For example, you could create a segment named US unsubscribed during trial that targets users in the US who have auto-renew turned off.
Once a Segment is created, you can assign it as an Audience to a Placement. A Placement defines where a paywall or A/B test will appear in your app (e.g., Onboarding or Settings). Each Placement can have multiple Audiences assigned to it.
For every segment linked to the placement, choose which paywall or A/B test it should see. This allows you to tailor the experience based on user behavior and attributes.
After connecting Segments to Placements, use the dashboard metrics to track how different user groups respond to specific Paywalls or A/B tests. Review data like revenue, conversion rate, and purchases to identify what is working, and make informed decisions about adjustments.
By defining User Segments, you can tailor the user experience to individual needs and behaviors, helping you maximize conversions without complicating your app logic.
